Consistent, powerful swings usually have one thing in common--extension through the ball after hitting it. A good way you can learn to perfect this is to put a tee about eight inches in front of the ball you are hitting. Make an effort to hit not only the ball but also the tee. This will help to train you to swing through the ball, not at it. – Frank Peter
Funny how golf works. You hit down to make the ball go up. You swing left and the ball goes right. The lowest score wins. And on top of that, the winner buys the drinks.
When lining up breaking putts, pros will always favor the "high" side of the hole rather than the " low" side. The law of averages tells you that as a putt is breaking near the hole, gravity works in your favor if the ball is above the hole. If the ball is breaking away on the low side, gravity works against you. It's pretty simple--remember the pro side, not the low side, and you'll make more putts! – Frank Peter
As of 2005, there were 32,000 golf courses in the world with about 16,000 golf courses in the United States. Florida has the most golf courses in America with about 1,100 followed by California at 950.
Golf is the only sport where the most feared opponent is you.
As your body ages, flexibility diminishes. (Don't feel bad, it happens to everyone.) So does your ability to make a full turn. If you're serious about improving, you must stay flexible. Fairway woods require a full turn of the torso and upper body without overturning the hips, to maximize distance. There are many good stretches you can do to slow down the aging process and increase flexibility! Try sitting down and resting a wood behind your neck with your hands holding the club lightly above your shoulders. Now, slowly stretch and rotate from side-to-side, turning your shoulders as close to 90 degrees as possible in relation to your hips. – Frank Peter
Sam Snead has the record for most finishes in the Top 10 with 358 achieved on the PGA Tour.
Bobby Jones nicknamed his trusty putter Calamity Jane which he used throughout most of his career.
In the first round of the 2006 U. S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee, Corey Pavin shot 26 over the front nine giving him the PGA Tour record for lowest nine hole score.
